Latest Updates from Our Project:

Slower Than We Hoped
almost 8 years ago – Thu, Dec 15, 2016 at 11:06:40 PM

The good news is, the truck is on the way to our warehouse. The bad news is, we thought that it was going to be on the way to our warehouse seven days ago and it was not.

Because of that delay, we run into both Christmas shipping delays and the holidays at our warehouse and at UPS. Of course, we don't have any issue with people taking time off for the holidays. But this probably means that Wizard School will begin shipping in very late 2016. (like December 27th).

I don't know if these super-granular updates are helpful, but I hope that they are. Hopefully it is better than having you in the dark. You're probably sick of hearing me apologize, but I hate this and I'm sorry.

As soon as the truck arrives, we will be slamming these things into boxes and getting them out to you. They look fantastic and we're so excited to get them in your hands.

Look What Just Arrived on my Porch!

D6 for scale.

I just got two copies of Wizard School! The game looks and feels fantastic. These were able to rush ahead of the rest of the production run because they're the first off the line, and also because it's easier to ship two games than several thousand. But this isn't a beta copy or anything, it's the final game and IT'S HERE! And I haven't even found a typo yet! I'm sure I will...

Frustration and Excitement
almost 8 years ago – Mon, Nov 28, 2016 at 11:26:41 PM

Hello Glorious Backers, It's Hank, and I have news (thank goodness, right?)

The news is that the game is in production. Obviously, this is belated. I don't want to throw anyone under the bus, because our partners in this project make a fantastic product and I want to continue having a good relationship with them, but some of the estimates we got were very wrong.

Of course, we also slowed things down on our own. We were mostly delayed in the play-testing and game-dev / balancing phase. That bit I wish we could have done faster, but it was very important that we did it well, and I really believe we did.

I waited a bit to send out this update because I wanted to have a firm ship date from our factory first. And we have that date. They will be sending the games to our warehouse on December 7th. The factory is in the US, but It'll still take a few days to get to us, and then it'll take a few more days for us to put them all in boxes and send them to you, but they will be shipping out before Christmas.

This, however, does not mean that you will get them before Christmas, as shipping this time of the year is notoriously slow. You can expect delivery early in the new year.

Ugh...this sucks...I hate that it took so long...

I know the emotions of our backers are all over the place. Some of your have infinite patience, some of you have just about had it with our lack of logistical prowess. I am also on that scale. I'm disappointed and frustrated and a bit embarrassed, but the game is real...it is coming...and I can't wait to get it into your hands.

P.S. Here's another picture from the factory:

We're so close now!
about 8 years ago – Wed, Oct 19, 2016 at 11:51:25 PM

Hi Wizards,

We have been spending the last few weeks working hard with the factory to get this game manufactured and into your hands. We're nearly there, just another couple weeks now (they tell us). Also, since we are printing in the US, it means there is no long wait while it ships across the ocean. So unless something goes terribly wrong at the factory, you should see your package well before the Christmas season. So sorry for the delays, we've been working to get you the best product we can as quickly as possible.

Also, we send out the print and play a couple weeks back to all backers who ordered the game. This came through Backerkit, and you should have gotten an email about it. If you did not, please log into their system for your free print and play. If you have forgotten how to get into your Backerkit account, or never filled out the survey (there are 209 of you still!), follow this link for assistance:

Speaking of Backerkit, since we are so close to shipping, we'll be sending out a reminder soon to update your mailing address in their system, if your address has changed. This will be an email from Backerkit. We're also locking down orders a day or two after, and taking no more pre-orders, adjustments or additions to your pledge, so this is the last chance for that! The link to make a pre-order if you were not a backer is:

Finally, due to all the support we're received through kickstarter and word of mouth, we've attracted the interest of several chain stores, so with a little luck, hopefully you'll be seeing Wizard School on shelves of some major retailers in 2017. Thank you everyone!!!!

Can't wait to get this into all of your hands, Thank you,

The Wizard School Team

Wizards get ready!
about 8 years ago – Fri, Sep 02, 2016 at 10:57:39 PM

Hi Wizards!

We're so happy to say that Wizard School is heading to print! We made those last minute changes we told you about, and it's ready to go. Just some last minute proof reading left to do. (That means very soon we'll be emailing some more of you who so generously offered to help proof read).

Here is a card to sum up our mood...and because it's dominating our playlists:

Backers!

As promised, your digital rewards will be heading your way VERY soon. Additionally, now is the time to sign into backerkit if you need to update your shipping address. In case you have any issues with backerkit, we will include a form you can fill out with those digital rewards, in order to update your address directly to us.

Thank you,

The Wizard School Team
