FAQ: Wizard School

How old do you have to be to play?

We think that the regular (safe for kids) version could be played with little wizards as young as 8-10. The big advantage is that this is a fully cooperative game, so everyone is helping each other out the whole time anyway, so no one will feel left behind. Last updated: Tue, Sep 29 2015 3:22 pm EDT

How long does a game of Wizard School take to play?

A standard game will last roughly 45-60 minutes. Of course you can tailor your game experience by taking on easier or harder or quicker or more involved challenges as well. Last updated: Wed, Sep 30 2015 6:50 pm EDT

How “not safe for kids” is the Hank’s Dirty Little Secrets Expansion?

It’s not actually all that terribly dirty to be honest. The focus of the expansion is more to include Hank’s inside jokes, cards which really reflect Hank’s preferences and personality more intensely. For example, for a stretch goal, it includes cards for Wizard School Summer Camp, which was a play style variant that was important to him to include. The not safe for kids label is there because there is no filter on these cards, and some of them definitely are less kid friendly. We did not, however, go out of our way to shoehorn in vulgarity for the sake of it. Last updated: Mon, Oct 5 2015 2:11 pm EDT

How do you successfully attack in Wizard School?

Each time you attack you must use magic spells with the proper combination of symbols to at least match the magic indicated on the card you’re attacking, in order to succeed. An attack could require 2 Conjuring, 5 of any type, or 2 Manipulation and 3 Divination, etc. (The wand symbol indicates that you can use any type of magic for the attack.) So for example, you can attack a card requiring 2 Conjuring with a spell that produces 2 Conjuring, or 3 Conjuring, or with 1 Conjuring from you and another 1 Conjuring from a fellow wizard casting a spell to assist you. You can attack 5 of any type of magic with 3 Conjuring, 1 Manipulation, 1 Divination, or with 1 Transmutation, 1 Conjuring, 1 Illusion, 1 Manipulation, and 1 Divination, or any other combination of magic from you and other wizards which combined equals 5 magic. How do you win Wizard School?

To win Wizard School, you must pass all the Milestone Challenges on 4 consecutive Graduation Cards. (Or if you’re playing the the Graduation Cards from Hank’s expansion, just 1 Graduation Card.) The Graduation Card will indicate what the wizards must do to pass the Milestones, but it could require defeating monsters, casting certain types of spells, calling on magical friends, or really anything in the game! BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
